Light installation in Dubai for every room and style
Lighting changes how a room looks, how it feels and how well you can use it. The right fittings make a living room warmer, a kitchen more practical and a bedroom more relaxing. But lights are electrical work, and they need to be installed safely, with the right fixings for Dubai’s gypsum ceilings and the correct wiring connections. Best Home Fixes installs and replaces lights across Dubai with certified, insured technicians, more than 11 years of experience and a price agreed before we start.
Lights we install
- LED downlights and spotlights, including replacing old halogen or CFL fittings with energy-efficient LEDs.
- Chandeliers of all sizes, including heavy crystal chandeliers that need strong ceiling anchors.
- Pendant lights over dining tables, kitchen islands and staircases.
- LED strip lights for cove ceilings, kitchen under-cabinet lighting, wardrobes and TV walls.
- Wall lights and sconces for bedrooms, corridors and bathrooms.
- Outdoor and garden lighting, including wall lights, spike lights and bollards for villas.
- Bathroom lights and mirror lights rated for damp areas.
- Dimmer switches and smart lighting controls.
Safe installation in gypsum ceilings
Most Dubai apartments and villas have gypsum false ceilings, which look smooth but can’t hold heavy fittings on their own. For downlights, we cut neat holes to the right size and use the fitting’s spring clips. For chandeliers and heavy pendants, we fix a mounting plate into the concrete slab above or add a support channel, so the weight never hangs on the gypsum board. Before cutting or drilling, we check for AC ducts, sprinkler pipes and cables above the ceiling.
Choosing the right light
The colour of light makes a big difference. Warm white (around 2700–3000K) feels cosy in living rooms and bedrooms. Neutral white (around 4000K) works well in kitchens, bathrooms and home offices where you need clear light. Dimmable fittings let you change the mood in the evening. LED fittings use far less electricity than old halogen lamps and produce less heat, which helps keep rooms cooler and reduces your DEWA bill. We can advise on fitting types, beam angles and spacing so a room is evenly lit without glare.
Our light installation process
- Plan. Send photos of the room and the fittings, or ask us to recommend options.
- Quote. You get a clear price for removing old lights, installing new ones and any wiring changes.
- Power off. We isolate the circuit at the DB board and test that it’s dead before touching any wires.
- Install. Fittings are mounted securely and wired with proper connectors and earthing.
- Test. We restore power, test every light and dimmer and check for flicker or overheating.
- Clean up. We vacuum ceiling dust and take away old fittings and packaging.
Upgrading to LED
Many Dubai homes still have halogen downlights that run hot, burn out often and use more power. Switching to LED downlights is one of the simplest upgrades you can make. In most cases we can use the existing holes, so there’s no ceiling repair needed. Where the transformer or driver is old, we replace it too.
What affects the cost of light installation
The price depends on the number and type of fittings, ceiling height, whether new wiring or switches are needed, and how heavy the fitting is. Replacing ten downlights in existing holes is quicker than hanging a large crystal chandelier over a double-height staircase. We agree the price with you before we begin.
